Description
The Six Suites for Unaccompanied Cello by J.S. Bach are acclaimed as some of the greatest works ever written for solo cello. The suites contain a great variety of technical devices, a wide range of emotional content, and some of Bach's most compelling voice interactions and conversations. However, it is their intimacy that has made the suites amongst Bach's most popular works.

Very beautiful and honest recording.read the Gramophone (UK) review by L. Kemp, 1/2005: ... Phrases are often marked out with a generously free rubato which, while it can endanger forward momentum, also gives the music a refreshingly improvisatory feel..but this is Bach playing of elegance and delicacy - I love the way his double-stops can be like wispy brush- strokes. In fact, by the time I reached the end of it, I realised that this unassuming release (recorded as far back as 1997) offers one of the most attractive and satisfying `Baroque' recordings of these pieces yet made.
